Dracula Dog Show - 3 shows, 1 weekend. Tirgu Mures (Marosvásárhely in Hungarian), Romania - 01-02.09.2007

It was a very adventurous weekend again. Budapest-Tirgu Mures is about 550 km, should not have been a big deal. But: if you find yourself confronted with electric wirings hanging down to the road in a village, causing a full blockage that in turn results in traffic detour through pastures with cows and all this takes 1,5 hours of your life, then yes, it is just irritating. We managed to reach the border somehow, bought the mandatory motorway vignette (road toll) and then realized that there is no highway :-) Instead we found ourselves in a loooooong queue of cars, by long I mean a 200 km long car queue (both directions, so no way to overtake)! We drove with max 40 km/h through the mountains of Transylvania. It was only the last 50 km that went kind of smoothly. After a 10,5 hours' drive we finally arrived at the camping; nice wooden houses, occupied by only dog people from many countries :-) It was nice to have a rest after those long hours in the car. The next morning we got up early as we wanted to have a nice place at the show and also a good parking place near the entrance :-) Unfortunately we were way to early (is 8.30 early?) as the rings were not allocated yet. After a while our ring was set up, new surprise: stones as a ground. This because of all the rain they had last year, the organizators did not want us to run in mud up to the knees. But these stones were just soooo bad, no dog could move on them. Otherwise everything was great, very nice and friendly people - the city has lots of Hungarian speaking inhabitants, so no language barrier either :-) Very nice food and coffee at the show ground, this is important, I think we can agree on this! Also the showground itself was beautiful, the garden of a medieval castle.

01.09.2007 - Club Show of the Hungarian Vizsla and English Pointing Dogs' Club of Romania.

The judge was well-known Sándor Szabó from Hungary, often seen judging breeds from group VII. Danka won her class of 3 bitches with CAC and was chosen as Best Bitch with the title Club Winner '07.

In the afternoon the "Dracula" CACIB show took place, Seamus Oates from Ireland was supposed to judge but they had a change :-( The new judge was Atilla Kelemen from Romania. Danka became excellent 3 in champion class from three :-)

Next day another CACIB show, with Australian Aramis Lim judging. A new day with new hopes. And yes, Danka did it. She went all the way from winning the class, over winning CACIB, to the BOB title. We were unlucky enough to have the breed judge from the day before as the group judge and he obviously did not like my girl :-) So no group placement this time.

During this weekend Danka gained her Romanian Champion title.
